How to Troubleshoot One Flashing Red Light and "E" Codes on Xbox 360

No Picture and "E" Code Errors 0-73 and 75-99
Not seeing a picture from your Xbox 360 or receiving "E" code errors 0-73 or 75-99 while there is one red bar around the Power button is a sign that your Xbox 360 is experiencing a problem with loose power cables, the hard drive or connected accessories. Work through the following troubleshooting options to pin down what the exact source of your problems is resulting in the red light.
Check for Loose Cables
- Disconnect both cables connected to the Xbox 360's power source. One cable should be connected to an AC outlet and the other should be connected to the back of the Xbox 360.
- Wait for 30 seconds and then reconnect the cables to the power source.
- Push the cables in firmly to ensure they're making a secure connection.
- Turn the Xbox 360 back on.
Check for Fatal Hard Drive Error
- Turn off your Xbox 360 console and then press the small gray button between the vent and the hard drive on the left side of the Xbox 360 console where the hard drive is located to eject the hard drive from the Xbox 360 console. This causes the Xbox 360 hard drive to pop out slightly from where it's located.
- Grab the Xbox 360 hard drive.
- Carefully pull it away from the Xbox 360 console.
- Turn on the Xbox 360 to see if you're still experiencing the red light error and no picture.
Check Connected Accessories
Disconnect any connected accessories from the Xbox 360 console and then turn the Xbox 360 console back on to see if you're still experiencing the problem.
E74 Error
An E74 error occurs when the Xbox 360's internal components become too hot and begin melting. The problem is common in older Xbox 360 models; newer models have more improved built-in cooling systems that help prevent the problem from happening. As a result, Microsoft extends the traditional 1-year warranty for the system to three years for this particular error. Because your warranty is voided if you open your console for any reason, including to attempt fixing this problem, it's in your best interest to just following the necessary steps to return your Microsoft for repairs.
