Connect a flash drive that is at least 1 gigabyte in size into an available USB port on a computer.
Click the Windows Orb on the Windows taskbar and then click "Computer."
Double-click the name of your flash drive beneath Devices with Removable Storage.
Copy any files that you don't want to delete from the flash drive off of the flash drive and place them in a safe location on your computer. You'll only need to leave these files in this location until after you update your Samsung Blu-ray player's firmware.
Navigate back to the Computer window when you're done relocating any files you don't want to delete and then right-click the name of the flash drive beneath Devices with Removable Storage.
Click "Format."
Click the drop-down arrow beneath "File system" and then select "FAT32."
Click to uncheck the Quick Format box if it's checked and then click "Start."
Click "OK" when the Format Completed message dialog box appears on the screen.
Click the "X" in the upper-right corner of the Computer window to close the window.
Open your Web browser and navigate to the Samsung Support page. Search for and select your specific Blu-ray player to arrive at the Support page for that Blu-ray player.
Click "Get Downloads" beneath Downloads.
Click "Firmware" beneath Download Center and then click the ZIP file beneath File. Elect to save the ZIP file to your formatted flash drive. Be careful, even though the file you click to download says ZIP, the file is actually an RUF file. If the file appears on your flash drive as a ZIP file, right-click the file and then click "Extract to Here" or "Extract All" to extract the RUF file from the ZIP file. Delete the ZIP file after extracting the RUF file, if you had to extract the RUF file.
Navigate back to the Computer window after the RUF file is the only file on the flash drive and then right-click the icon for the flash drive.
Click "Eject." When the icon representing the drive disappears, it's safe to disconnect the flash drive from your computer.
Turn the Samsung Blu-ray player on if it isn't turned on already and then remove a disc if there's one in the player.
Connect the flash drive to an available USB port on your Samsung Blu-ray player. A Software Upgrade dialog box appears.
Highlight "Yes" in the Software Upgrade dialog box and then press "Enter." The Samsung Blu-ray player will reboot and then a progress bar will be displayed on the screen. After the Samsung Blu-ray player's firmware is successfully upgraded, the player will power itself down.
Disconnect the flash drive from the Samsung Blu-ray player. You can turn the Samsung Blu-ray player on at any time to resume using it as you normally would.
